We are excited to welcome Rabbi Zohar and his family to Temple Sinai!

Rabbi Or Zohar, his wife Feliza, and two of their four children (son, Rakiya, 16 and daughter, Tsofiya, 9), will be joining our congregation on July 1. Let’s give them the warmest Temple Sinai welcome and create opportunities for them to meet our congregation in different ways!

We all know that social events are a great way to introduce people to one another and encourage more personal connection. From July through December, we would like to invite Temple Sinai congregants to host different social events to provide natural opportunities to engage with Rabbi Zohar and Feliza on a more personal level. We envision two types of opportunities:

- Would you like to host Rabbi Zohar and his family for a small gathering at your home, with your Sinai friends?
- Would you like to host a Friday evening Shabbat oneg over the summer?

Host a social gathering outside of Temple:
  • We ask that the gathering be for 7-15 adults. If you are planning an event that includes children, then the number of participants could increase to 25.

  • Please suggest the type of gathering (i.e. coffee and dessert, wine and cheese, brunch, etc.) you are offering to host, and at least two date options, from July to December 2024.
  • The transition committee will coordinate with Rabbi Zohar and his family to create a schedule that is welcoming and engaging, without being overwhelming. We will try to accommodate the requests as best we can.
  • Meals are not required to be kosher, but we ask that you refrain from serving pork or shellfish.

Host an oneg over the summer:

This is an opportunity for an individual or a group of Temple Sinai members to host an oneg after an Erev Shabbat service this summer.
  • Hosting an oneg includes coordinating with the Temple office, set up and clean up, along with providing delicious treats.
  • During the summer months, most Erev Shabbat services are held at 6:00 pm and the oneg will follow at approximately 7:00 pm.
  • We ask that you plan to attend the Erev Shabbat service you are sponsoring, and encourage other members to attend, as well. We also encourage members to collaborate with other families/households in hosting an oneg, to ensure the Erev Shabbat service is vibrant and well attended.

If you have any questions about hosting, please let us know.
Thank you for taking an active role in welcoming Rabbi Zohar and his family to our congregation!

Sincerely,
