       ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT!

Temple Sinai is a warm, welcoming, social-justice oriented synagogue rooted in the traditions of Reform Judaism. Our clergy and lay leadership work in collaborative partnership, and we are blessed with rich programming, spearheaded by clergy and volunteers. We are currently looking to hire an Administrative Assistant to support Temple operations. This position will serve as the first point of contact for the Temple community and provide administrative support to ensure effective and efficient office operations.

Primary responsibilities:
Serve as first point of contact with congregants, visitors, partners, and the public – through phone and in-person reception.
Provide administrative support for Temple programming and events, which may include:
Assisting with mass mailings.
Assisting with program coordination as requested (Zoom links, tech support, room set-up, food orders).
Provide administrative support for weekly Shabbat services, to include:
Preparing calendar of Board greeters.
Preparing weekly Board announcements for Board members to share.
Ordering supplies for weekly gatherings following each service, where the Temple provides desserts and light refreshments.
Update congregant listings for healing and mourning prayers and communications. 
Support Education Director as requested to develop class rosters and attendance lists, procure needed classroom materials, and assist where necessary for smooth school operations.
Manage office supply inventory and purchasing (with approval from Executive Director).
Manage and track regular service contracts (including HVAC, pest control).
Work with Temple’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to update member accounts, create forms for events and programs, and send announcements.
Support Board of Trustee and Executive Committee meetings and efforts, including preparing Board packets in preparation for monthly meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the Temple as well as the administrative team.

Ability to provide a warm welcome to those visiting and contacting the Temple, and show empathy and appropriate compassion to congregants.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize given tasks and work efficiently.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Flexible and able to pivot as needed.
Ability to take initiative where the situation warrants.
Team player with a cooperative and collaborative work style.
Tech and computer savvy.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Qualifications and experience:
Associate Associates degree or commensurate experience required.
Two years of experience in an administrative or office support role.  Non-profit environment a plus.
Intermediate skill with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Knowledge of Jewish traditions and familiarity/knowledge of Hebrew language a plus.
Logistical information
This position will be based in Rochester, New York (relocation expenses will not be covered). 
Reports to Executive Director.
Salary information
Salary will be commensurate with experience. It is envisioned that the starting salary will range from $17.00/hour to $22.00/hour.

 

 
PROGRAMMING & COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR!
 
We are currently looking to hire a Programming & Communications Coordinator to support the work of our congregants, committees, clergy, and religious school. This team member will coordinate Temple programs and events, interfacing with congregants, committee members, clergy, and Temple staff; take the lead role in developing Temple communications; and provide high-level administrative support to the Executive Director and clergy to ensure  smooth operations.

Primary responsibilities:
Coordinate and support Temple programs and events, including:
Congregant support for life cycle events, including B’nai mitzvot, confirmation, weddings, and funerals.
Support for different congregational and committee events and programs (including room set-up, security, materials, tech support, event advertising, refreshments, and calendaring).
Serve as main point of communication with congregants and committee members to ensure that all are in sync and have materials and support needed.
Serve as lead for Temple communications, including:
Coordinating Temple’s weekly on-line newsletter.
Updating Temple website with relevant information. 
Managing social media posts (in coordination with identified congregants).
Manage the overall Temple calendar, to ensure that all events are properly listed and conflicts avoided.
Perform other duties as needed to meet the needs of the administrative team.
Required skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
Able to draft communications and marketing materials for review and consideration by teams.
Able to show empathy and appropriate compassion to congregants.
Ability to prioritize given tasks and work efficiently.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Qualifications and experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate organizational experience. 
Intermediate skill with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint).
Experience planning and implementing organization programming and events preferred.
Experience with diverse ages preferred.
Nonprofit experience a plus.
Graphic design experience a plus.
Knowledge of Jewish traditions and familiarity/knowledge of Hebrew language a plus.
