The Women's Chavurah and the Accessibility and Inclusion Committee Invite you to "The Camp Abilities Story: The Evolution of a Global Sports Camp for Children who are Blind", a Book Talk by Temple Sinai Member, Dr. Lauren Lieberman.
In 1996 Lauren Lieberman, then an assistant professor at SUNY Brockport, started a small educational sports camp for children with visual impairments called Camp Abilities with 27 children. In 2000 she expanded to Palmer, Alaska. Today there are Camp Abilities programs in over 20 locations in the US and in 10 countries and growing. Come to this talk and hear the remarkable story of this epic journey to help children with visual impairments and their families around the globe.
