Executive Director:

We are seeking an Executive Director to provide leadership in the administrative functioning of the temple.  The Executive Director will serve the members of the congregation and ensure that clergy, senior staff, and lay leadership have the support to function effectively in meeting congregants’ religious, social and community needs.

The Executive Director will provide leadership in operations (including facilities management), finance, human resources, strategic planning, and communications; day-to-day management of Temple accounting and administrative affairs; supervision of the office and custodial staff; and will serve as an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees and a resource to volunteer committees.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • 5 to 10 years relevant not-for-profit leadership experience, including project management, facilities management, communications, and financial management responsibility.
  • At least 5 years’ experience supervising staff, preferably administrative and maintenance staffs 
  • Knowledge and understanding of Jewish ritual practices, customs, and holidays, and familiarity with the requirements of a Reform Jewish congregation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, managerial, partnership, and delegation skills; the ability to work in a flexible work environment.
  • Ability and desire to work with a wide range of professional and volunteer leaders within the congregation and throughout the community.
  • Proficiency in MSOffice applications, database management systems, and financial accounting systems.
  • Demonstrated competencies in the development, implementation, and management of financial and operational systems.
  • Knowledge of finance and budgeting, including the supervising and preparation of financial reports and annual budgets, record keeping, receivables, and billing
  • Familiarity of laws/regulations pertaining to not-for-profit and religious organizations, general business law and employment law for compliance purposes; as well as familiarity with human resources practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree welcomed
